Coronavirus Cases in the UK as Of 31st March, 2020

The new coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease known as Covid-19, was first confirmed in the UK at the end of January.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the UK stands at 25,150 out of which 135 have been fully recovered while the death toll rose by 1,789 till 31st March 2020.

There are 21,008 active cases reported in England out of which 1,651 people have died so far. In Scotland, the death toll has exceeded 47 with 1,993 active cases. Wale’s death toll exceeded 69 with 1,563 active cases. 586 active cases have been reported in Northern Ireland and the number of people who have died in Northern Ireland has risen to 22. This is the largest daily increase in deaths since the outbreak began.

The government has faced criticism for a shortage of testing, including the inability to test NHS staff who have symptoms but are unsure if they have the virus. In recent weeks, most of the tests have been reserved for seriously ill patients in hospital.

The number of confirmed cases and deaths in the UK remains lower than some other European countries. Most of the deaths in the UK have been in England
